Living in a 17 sq ft apartment for 15 years. Wait what?

While actually more than the 1.56 square meters (approximately 17 square feet for those of you who don't use the metric system), this apartment in Paris, France (not Missouri), was being rented for 330 euros (which is around $436).

A 50 year old man had been renting what most people would consider a closet for the last 15 years. He no longer lives here as it is permanently closed, additionally, the owner had a court date.

According to a French law, even if the space is finished, if the ceiling is lower than 1.8 meters (5'9"), it's excluded from the total square footage; the minimum size for an apartment there is 9 square feet.
